Vintage Black and White Drawings: Womens

I got the photos from google. I do not own them. The drawings I do own though.

This one is my friend Jackie’s mom. She asked me to draw this one.

Stamps and Prints

Hey guys. This is my block prints. For this project we took a block of rubber stuff and used graphite paper to trace the image of our choosing to a piece of scratch paper. From the scratch paper we took another piece of graphite paper and traced the image again but this time on to the rubber like block. Then I went back over it with a pen. After that we started carving with certain tools. The only difficulty I had was carving around the eyes and hair of the people in the image. If I were to do this project again I would pick a different image to carve that would make it much easier and would use less detail. I choose this pick as a subject matter because this was taken on a day where my sister and I actually got along. I love my sister but we are just so different in so many ways and it gets tough to be around each other without fighting. I liked this day not only because we were getting along but also because we went to go see Cody Slaughter ( Elvis Impersonator) Preform in downtown Hot Springs Arkansas.

Tree Art

  1. In my opinion artist are drawn to trees in art because of the intense detail they have and the visual of prospering life that they give off.
  2. For the tree with tuns of lines that kinda makes the piece look like stain glass, I first drew out a layout of what I would like the art to look like. I used a ruler for this process. Then I went over the lines with a sharpie. After that I took colored pencil and I shaded the tree and the things surrounding it. For the piece with the sunset I first used tape and I laid out the tree in tape. Then I used watercolor to create the setting or background. Then I took the tape off the paper and went over the outline in sharpie then  came back with sharpie and created the design of the bark. Finally for the last art piece I took pipe cleaner and  and designed a tree that could stand on it’s own. Then I wrapped it all in tin-foil and mounted it to cardboard with hot glue.
  3. While researching for this project I studied the artist Beth Moon she takes a lot of black and white photos of survival and in her words ancient trees.
  4. My favorite piece was the tape and watercolor painting. I liked it more because I feel more attached to it. Growing up in the south you see more of the natural occurrences of nature. For example beautiful setting suns of cold summer nights. When I see one it makes me have this warm feeling of safety and security. I feel at home when I see one.

Glue and Chalk Pastel Art

Stained glass art

For this project I used a sheet of black paper and created a design on it using glue. I let it dry then I got the chalk pastel colors I wanted to use and started coloring. There really was not any challenge in this artwork I completed the whole thing with huge success. If I do this project again I would like to use oil pastel instead of chalk.

Pop Art

Pop art

For this project I had to find a word that held a high value in my life or to myself. Then I had to use construction paper and paint to make this word pop. I chose this word because I hear it all the time. I am told to have this faith that God is there and this wanting to be closer to him. I am always told by others it is faith that gets you to heaven. Everyone has faith. For example a faith that when you close your eyes at night, you will open then in the morning. Anyway the greatest challenge I had during this project was choosing the word. There were so many words that I could have used but I decided on this one so. I do not really want to do anything differently, if I do this project again.

Optical Illusion

For this piece I was told to do a op art drawing. I personal did not want to create a flat one sided drawing. I settled for a brain trick I had witnessed on one of my favorite movies (Sleepy Hallow with Johnny Depp). I thought it was a neat little trick, so made exactly that only replaced the images with my own.

I faced many challenges while making this product. First I had to find a way for the images to match up on both sides of the card. I used a maker that can bleed through to fix that problem. Then I had to find string and cut holes in to the card. Mrs. Akehurst  helped me complete that part of the project. I got a hole puncher and twine form her.

I wished that I was more prepared in order to complete it if I ever do this one again. I wished that I had all the supplies so I wouldn’t have to use others. (all the supplies at home not in the art room so that is directed towards me.)

Faux Taxidermy

image

For this Faux Taxidermy project my partner and I chose to create a panda. But instead of making the animal look real  we decided to make a cartoon panda. We chose this animal because we both like it. We really did not have a in-depth reason as to why we chose this animal other than that.

The process we used was very simple. First we started off with making the head of the animal. After that we made the arms. We used a balloon covered in Vaseline to make the stomach area. We covered everything in paste and newspaper. (everything was made of newspaper except the stomach) Then after all that dried we hot glued the head to the stomach then the arms and legs. Then we painted everything white, but we also painted the arms, ears, nose, mouth, eyes, and legs black.

For the texture we used implied texture. We dabbed the paintbrush around certain areas to give the impression of fur.

On a personal note I would have liked to make a real looking panda instead of a cartoon. I would have only done the head though because of the time we have. I would’ve like to make it look real because I have a greater appreciation and respect for living animals. I would have like to make them the way God envisioned and created them. I would’ve liked to view them as they ought to be viewed.

I would not like to grade myself on this work. I think the grading should be left up to the teacher.
